# Monitor production

> Read a solar inverter's output, poll it, and list every inverter for a user.

Read current output from one inverter, or list every inverter linked to one of your users.

## 1. List a user's inverters

Filter by the `userId` you used when the device was linked.

```bash theme={null}
curl "https://api.amps.ai/solar-inverter?userId=user_abc123" \
  -H "x-api-key: $AMPS_API_KEY"
```

```json theme={null}
{
  "success": true,
  "data": {
    "items": [
      {
        "id": "device_abc123",
        "state": { "status": "producing", "currentPower": 3.2, "energyTotal": 18452.7 }
      }
    ],
    "pagination": { "limit": 10, "offset": 0, "total": 1, "hasMore": false }
  }
}
```

The list shows each device's last known state. Paginate with `limit` (up to 50) and `offset`.

## 2. Read one inverter

```bash theme={null}
curl "https://api.amps.ai/solar-inverter/device_abc123?expedite=true" \
  -H "x-api-key: $AMPS_API_KEY"
```

```json theme={null}
{
  "success": true,
  "data": {
    "id": "device_abc123",
    "sync": { "available": true, "lastPulledAt": "2026-06-01T12:04:00.000Z" },
    "state": {
      "status": "producing",
      "producing": true,
      "currentPower": 3.4,
      "energyTotal": 18452.9
    }
  }
}
```

`?expedite=true` asks for a fresher reading. See [Pull](/guides/pull) for caching and rate limits before you pick a poll interval.

## 3. Work out energy over a period

`energyTotal` is a lifetime counter. Store it at the start and end of a period and subtract to get the energy produced in that period.

In sandbox, production follows a daily curve in UTC: nothing at night, peaking around midday.
