# AI agents

> Give your coding assistant or agent the Amps docs through MCP or llms.txt.

Connect your AI tools to these docs so they use real endpoints, field names, and commands instead of guessing.

## Docs MCP server

The docs are served as an MCP server at `https://docs.amps.ai/mcp`. It has two read-only tools: one searches the docs, the other reads pages and the OpenAPI spec.

**Claude Code**

```bash theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http amps-docs https://docs.amps.ai/mcp
```

**Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf**

Add this to the client's MCP config (`claude_desktop_config.json`, `~/.cursor/mcp.json`, or `~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json`), then restart the client.

```json theme={null}
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "amps-docs": {
      "url": "https://docs.amps.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

To check it works, ask: "Which commands does an Amps battery accept?" The agent should call the docs tools before answering.

## llms.txt

For tools without MCP support, point them at a plain-text version of the docs.

| URL | Contains |
| - | - |
| `https://docs.amps.ai/llms.txt` | An index of every page with a one-line summary. |
| `https://docs.amps.ai/llms-full.txt` | The full text of every page. |

Any page is also available as Markdown: add `.md` to its URL.
